STEAM education

[steem e-joo-KAY-shuh n]

Meaning & Usage

noun STEAM education is a way to teach how all things relate to each other, in school and in life. It’s more fun than traditional learning styles and makes more sense to all types of learners because it is based on the natural ways that people learn and are interested in things.

Not everybody can be a techie, so adding arts and design into STEM learning and talking about STEAM education helps the artists of the world prove how valuable they are to the future of technology and science.

Origin

STEAM was developed in 2006 by a master's student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and has since been incorporated into middle and high school curricula.
