noun STEM is an acronym standing for science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It is used to signify the technical skills that are key to an ever-growing number of jobs. They may also represent requirements to approach problem solving and innovation.
My parents want me to study STEM in high school and college to make sure I can get a good job.
Origin
The acronym arose in common use shortly after an inter-agency meeting on science education held at the US National Science Foundation.
